Cancer Insurance Provides Security

Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with a high potential to invade other organs and parts of the body. It affects males as well as women, but the types differ regarding sex. The most common cancer types that affect the male population are lung cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and stomach cancer. As for the female population, the most common types are breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and cervical cancer. In the child population, the most common cancer is acute lymphoblastic leukemia and brain tumors. The chance of survival depends on the type of cancer diagnosed and the extent of it at the moment of setting diagnosis. But in general, in the United States, the average five-year survival rate is around 66%. After all these statistics, you should really consider taking cancer insurance, because everyone is exposed to the high possibility of getting a cancer diagnosis over the years.

Many health insurance policies don’t provide full coverage for cancer-related medical treatments and procedures. This means you may have to pay for some of your health care costs out-of-pocket. A cancer insurance policy can provide you with financial security in your time of need, making it possible to afford cutting-edge care that helps you beat your cancer diagnosis. Is Cancer Insurance Right For You?

Nobody can be sure whether they will be diagnosed with cancer at some time in the future, but if you feel you are at significant risk, a cancer insurance policy can be very worthwhile. These plans are great for people who don’t have significant savings available to pay for unexpected health emergencies. If you are in that category, don’t wait to get cancer insurance. How Cancer Insurance Policies Work

If you own a cancer insurance policy and get diagnosed with a form of cancer that is covered by the policy, you will be paid a benefit amount that is stated in your policy. Some policies have scheduled benefits, meaning they will cover specific benefits up to a certain amount. For example, a plan may cover up to $30,000 for radiation treatments but only $3,000 for transportation to and from cancer treatment visits.

Other plans provide beneficiaries with a lump sum if they are diagnosed with a covered form of cancer. The payment is made in full once a positive diagnosis is received. This type of plan is popular because the money can be used for non-health-related expenses, such as housing costs.

DOES MEDICARE COVER FOR CANCER TREATMENT?

Depending on the specific type of cancer a person has, Medicare covers some cancer treatments from Medicare Part A and Part B, but it does not cover everything you would need if diagnosed with cancer. However, it can be helpful with paying some specific costs.

In general, Medicare Part A in case of cancer will cover the following: inpatient chemotherapy, inpatient hospital stay for surgery, some costs of clinical research in the hospital, hospice care, blood transfusion, home healthcare, skilled nursing facility stay, and surgically implanted breast prostheses after mastectomy. Medicare Part B in a case of cancer will cover the following: outpatient chemotherapy, outpatient surgery, oral chemotherapy, radiation therapy at an outpatient center, tests to diagnose and evaluate cancer treatment, durable medical equipment, some costs of medical research as an outpatient, external breasts prostheses after a mastectomy, and doctor`s office visits.

In case of having Medicare Advantage, it will cover the same services as Part A and Part B but probably will have additional prescription drug coverage benefits. Medicare Part D will get you covered for oral chemotherapy drugs, antinausea, and pain drugs as well.

TYPES OF CANCER INSURANCE PLANS

There is a wide range of different kinds of cancer insurance plans with different designs and coverage, and it really depends from carrier to carrier what will offer in their cancer policies. But in general, there are two main types of cancer insurance plans: cancer expense plans and cancer check plans. Both types of plans give similar coverage, but they differ in the ways how they provide you with it.

Cancer expense plans cover medical expenses for cancer treatment in real time. In the case where you are diagnosed with some type of cancer and you end up admitted to the hospital, followed by surgery, and chemotherapy treatment, your cancer expense insurance plan will kick in and cover costs produced by treating your cancer diagnosis. You will get covered for expenses up to whatever amount you have purchased through your cancer insurance plan each year for as long as you have a cancer diagnosis.

Cancer check plans are pretty much simple, and they function through monthly premiums. Every month you pay a plan`s premium and if ever comes the day when you are diagnosed with cancer, you will get a check in the mail, with the amount agreed in the cancer insurance policy. Let`s say your monthly premium is $25, and it is agreed that you will get a $25,000 check in case of a diagnosis of cancer. If that day comes, at least you will be financially safe for the moment and can swing your focus on your treatment only, not having to think about how to pay for costs produced by treating cancer.
